The use of CCTV cameras for surveillance can't be cheap. If they are used effectively they can certainly assist in making road usage by vehicles much more efficient. I wasn't really impressed to see a particular unit nearby work that was;
1. Placed in an incorrect position or,
2. Not properly maintained and,
3. Quite obviously not monitored effectively.
How the hell is this going to tell you what the traffic is like on the road? Another government departmart wasting money.

They work just as well as our politicians do...
It is all about 'making' people feel safe and where do you think they get those great videos of car accidents for those TV shows?
We have them all over the place, I still run the right light, fuk the police i say!
All they are good for is writting tickets to generate money for the state and making reports over dead bodies that could have saved themselves if they for one second thought that the police were not there to protect them.
